I have little time to do anything recently but schoolwork. I likely will not be able to do anymore work on Utawareru Mono until my Christmas Break, and even then I'm not going to make any promises (though I do hope to try to get a little done, to keep my Japanese more "fresh" in my mind before Spring Semester).

I've added some new files to my UtaMono directory (look at first post for link):

-Misc. Official Art - Some random images I've collected here and there by the official artists of UtaMono (at least I'm pretty sure they are all official from the style of the art. I do know from a friend that the one of the boys in the hottub is official. ^_~)
-Leaf Official Fanclub Disk 5 UtaMono Pics - I wasn't going to share these with the world (greedy me ^_~) but have finally given in. These are sketches and pics from the 5th disk put out by the Leaf Fanclub. It has some very nice sketches in it, including a /very/ rare picture that is sure to surprise people (I won't give it away, you'll have to see for yourself ^_^). Unfortunately the images were that small on the disk, nothing I could do about that.
-PS2 CGs - This has the new PS2 CGs as well as an article on the PS2 game from G's Magazine.
-Special Attacks Pics - The Special Attack graphics from the game. I'm missing Teoro, Derihourai, and Genjimaru, if you happen to have those please kindly send them to me.
-Utawareru Mono Doujinshi - Aruruu no Minasan no Okagedeshita (non-adult)
-Utawareru Mono Doujinshi - EroEro4 - Has a small comic on UtaMono. Features small comics to other series, including Comic Party (I don't recognize the rest) (adult)
-Utawareru Mono Doujinshi - Survive (English Translated) (non-adult)
-Utawareru Mono Doujinshi - Wind That Blown Toward Me Talked - Karura/Touka yuri (wohoo, one of my favorite pairings!) (adult)

If you have any doujinshi I don't have and would kindly donate them to me, I'd be grateful.

Yay, thank you for the new scans ^_^. The PS2 CGs especially look very, very different in style from the original's...I wonder if they got a new artist to do some of the work. I do love the last two pictures though, with Hakuoro and Eruruu nearly kissing in bed together. Those romantic moments are always the sweetest <3.

A big surprise on the sketches o_O Although I doubt they were going to use the finished version in the game...probably more of a base image they were working off of to get the angles of his mask right ^_^.

Wish I could help you with the special attack pictures. I imagine you could extract them from the game, but I don't know what plugin to use. Maybe someone on Hongfire has an idea? Whoever put up the huge Westside torrent; Leaf probably uses the same encoding method for this game as for their other products.

Nope, same artist. I really don't notice any difference in style (except for the very first Eruruu pic which looks kinda weird). But you have to realize PS2's don't have the color depth a PC CG can have (though I think those may have come from an artbook or something... they look too nice to be screencaps, in my opinion)

I'm sure it was not meant to be used. But just /seeing/ it is cool. Because it's something you never expected to see. When I first saw it I did a face fault and went "Is that what I /think/ it's a picture of...?"

Batpig extracted them, but for some reason or another couldn't get those three out.

WOW!!!
That is a lot of work you have done, translating Utawarerumono.
It is done very nicely too.

A pity I only found out about the translation in the middle of the 10th chapter T_T.

I have looked quite a bit into your translation and although I have already missed it almost entirely, I must say that it is very well done. Of course there were a few minor mistranslated details here and there, but overall - Great Work on the Great Game.

I have been playing it nonstop for almost 2 weeks now (just started 11th chapter) and I must say it is a wonderfull game.
I especially like those humorous everyday situations that makes most of the game so sweet.

Oh yeah, and about the Translation Group for the game, it doesn't look like they are going to release anything in the next 2-3 years. So while it might be disheartening to people who haven't played the game yet, your translation will certainly remain the best thing around for the long time to come.

Oh yeah, good that you have finally got some life for youself :P
But it would be nice to see the game translated as well :)

Anyway, good job, and thanks for your hard work.

Ya, it's become really hard for me to find the time to work on it. Over my Christmas Break, I only managed to get Parts 1-6 revised (typos, grammar errors, clarity, etc.) and two more scenes in Part 11 translated. I'd really hoped to have gotten more done. -_-;;

Is there an explanation for the new character in the PS2 Edition?

I don't have a PS2, so I don't know anything at all about her.

Spoiler (assuming that I understood everything correctly:
The girl, Kamuchatar, is Inkara's daughter. She now runs a brothel in the red light district after her father was overthrown. Kurou took care of her when she was little she always had a crush on them.

Her story happened during the time Hakuoro & co. are in Na Tunk. Apparently, she was doing something illegal with her comic relief henchmen, so Benaui sent Kurou and the unsuspecting Oboro & the twins to investigate under cover. The girls at the brothel fought over Oboro with the twins, resulting in Oboro getting really drunk from all the alcohol he was getting ^^;

Anyhow, they busted her and her operation. I'm unclear on this part but Benaui was about to strike her when Kurou defends her. The girls at the brothel then comes to defend their mistress, apparently her illegal activity was for their sake. Benaui then lets her free. It seems that Benaui knows this already and predicts that Kurou would do what he did, and this whole action is a sort of repentance for killing Inkara.

Kurou declines her love saying that he's a warrior and he is unsuitable for love. But Kamuchatar doesn't give up anyways and a few days later brought him bentou. However, she found him hanging out with Aruruu & Co. and got mad thinking that he rejects her because he has other girls.

Well, so everyone knows, there is now a full translation patch out for the game from MirrorMoon/Soylations.

I'll probably keep up the links to the summaries that I already finished, but I will not be doing any further as it'd really just be quite a waste of time now. (Heh, next time I'm going to pick a BL game to do a summary project... the chances of another group doing a translation then would be nil so I wouldn't have to worry about that. :-P )

Okay, after actually looking at the English version, I think I take back what I said. The romaji system they decided to go with drives me out of my mind... seriously. I decided to uninstall and go back to the Japanese version. >_> Maybe I will continue to do summaries for anyone like me who doesn't want to have to tolerate "Eruruw", "Tuskur", "Urtoriy" and the like. *shudders*

hm, it might be kinda late for me to be saying this but from the looks of it, there's no chance of you finishing the summaries is there? =(
i just finished the anime a few days ago and the thought of it originally being a game piqued my interest on whether it might be a bit different in terms of the development of the story and came across the summaries in animesuki.
just to confirm things, will you be still be continuing with the summaries? since u said this a while back :

Well, I don't really see a point in continuing them... there is no demand, because now a group has actually released an English translation patch for the game. No one will read summaries for the game when they can simplly have the English dialogue inserted into the game, which kinda all makes my previous work on the project a waste of time. Plus, my level of Japanese is very elementary -- hense why I provide summaries and not line-by-line translations (I can get the jist of a scene while I may not be able to understand every single line). I'm sure those that have actually played the "English patch version" now will probably find lots of mistakes in my previous summaries.

Honestly, I put the English patch on and was completely appaled at the romaji they used for the character's names. I was under the impression the team from Yesy that did the anime (which correctly romanized most of the names) was going to do the game as well, but I was wrong, and the game translation uses that annoying Ainu romaji system. Even the official game art produced by Leaf itself uses straight romaji for the names (Eruruu, Benaui, Urutorii, etc.), which is what I use. Because I hated the treatment of the names in the English patch, I actually uninstalled it and decided to finish the game with AGTH first... maybe I'll play it all through again (heh, for the third time) with the English patch in the future.

Since I made the choice to complete the game using AGTH anyway, then technically I could continue to do what I was doing, and extract all the script, and continue making summaries. But it's a lot of work. An extreme amount of work. And it seems silly for me to do so much work when there is already an English translation available, even if I highly disagree with their naming system, and it urks me to the core that now all UtaMono fans are going to write "Eruruw" and "Ultoriy" and crap like that. >_< This is the first time I've even heard of anyone being interested in me continuing the project in spite of a full translation patch already being available, and I'm kinda stunned by it. I'm really not sure if it'd be worth it. It seems to me it'd be more useful for me to put that kind of work into something that doesn't have a translation available at all. If there was seriously a demand for more UtaMono summaries, then I'd probably continue, but I just don't think there is anymore now that the game patch is available.

mm.. guess you're right. looks like i'll have to start looking for the game now. although you say that you can't provide line-by-line translations, i think the summaries you wrote already do a good job of explaining the situation ^_^ anyways, i appreciate the work you did before this. it made me want to play the game now..heh.
