Over, and over, and over, people continually ignore to read the messages plastered over my site and IRC channel about reading my FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions, for those who don't know) before -- gasp!-- asking me questions.
The reason I /have/ an FAQ is to answer your questions so I don't have to answer them over and over -- this is a service to my viewers; I'm not going to waste my time typing the answers out over again to everyone who asks because they are too lazy to read it. If your English isn't the best and you don't understand it, asking me isn't going to make it any easier; a question is a question, an answer is an answer.
When I'm e-mailed, PMd, or asked in IRC questions that are already on my FAQ, this really, really annoys me, and I get quite mean. If there is a reputation about me being unpleasant, that is the reason why -- because I'm not going to be nice when I've already answered the question and you were too lazy to bother looking for the answer.
This is what you can expect when you ask me things already answered on my FAQ:
-Any e-mail I receive that asks something on my FAQ will simply be replied to with "Read my FAQ" or deleted. Any responses after that will be deleted. If I start to get abusive e-mail, I will simply set a filter to send the messages directly to my trash so I never even know they arrive.
-Anyone on IRC asking me how to use IRC to leech files or to send them CGs will be banned from my FServ. There are also times when I need to shut it off for my own purposes -- anyone asking why it isn't showing up, when it will be turned back on, ect., will be banned from my FServ.
Most common ignored FAQ answers:
These are the things I typically get asked that /really/ tick me off. Usually when I am asked them in an e-mail, on IRC, over an instant messenger, ect., I will get mean with you. Heed the warning.
QUESTION:Are there any boy's love games in English?
ANSWER: For the majority of games, no. Any news I ever have on games in English will always be updated on my message board thread about games in English.
QUESTION: Will you send me [insert game title here]?
ANSWER: No. It doesn't matter how much you beg, how much you plead, how demanding or verbally harrassing you are about it, how polite you are about it, the answer is not going to change. I really hate it when people ask me for games; if you are looking for something, try the Obtaining Games section. But don't ask me. Just because I post my game list, this does not mean it is there for you to request files from me because you see something you want. It is there for reference and trading purposes only.
Additionally, don't ask me for CGs or any other files; you will get the same response from me, and it won't be pleasant.
QUESTION: I can't get the game to work! How do I [insert troubleshooting question here]?
ANSWER: As it says in my FAQ, I do not troubleshoot games, period. I have lots and lots of information on troubleshooting games. One is a checklist of game problems, the exact steps I go through when I have a game issue. There is also a section on installing and running Japanese games, which is the #1 problem why a game won't work. And to top it off, yet /another/ section on troubleshooting games.
I'm not a personal boy's love game technician, here to answer every question you have about running games. Everything I know is on the site, written out for you. I don't have any other answers for you. If you have further problems with a game, you may ask in my troubleshooting forum. But don't ask me. It really annoys me.
QUESTION: How do I use IRC to leech your files?
ANSWER: Go to Google and do a search for "IRC tutorial". There are plenty out there to show you how to use IRC. It took a whole half second for Google to find this leeching tutorial. YaoiForever also has one on their site. But I will not teach you IRC, that is not my job. I provide the files, I'm not going to hold your hand and show you how to leech them, that is your responsibility. I've had this question in my IRC channel so much that now I am banning anyone who asks it from my FServ.
Additionally: I do not host games in my FServ. I never have, and never will, so stop coming in there and asking me for games! (See above on how much that ticks me off). The only things you'll find on my FServ are game pictures (like CGs or manuals), some software, and a few GBA ROMs. NOT FULL GAMES.

Here are some actual e-mails or messages I've received that have ignored my FAQ. I expect this list to grow since it seems unlikely that I will ever stop receiving them. These are the direct, un-altered messages, only the names have been removed. If you made the list, congratulations! You have officially proved your inability to read. May others learn from your bad example.

Again, your tutorial was very informative, but I have no idea what to do about these other problems I am running into. Thanks! |

Problem: Asking for gameplay help. It's not my job to provide playguides to people or find them for people (and asking for an English guide to a Japanese game in the first place is pretty silly considering the chances of one existing are microscopic).
