Lots of people know Chinese in the English community because in Asia or even everywhere in the world, there are lots of Chinese who are English educated. Like for my country, we study English since kindergarten because it is a compulsary subject but because I'm Chinese myself so I go to Chinese school although a lot of Chinese who don't know Chinese at all too as it is not absolutely required to take the language. I'm sure it is the same case as Singapore and other places in Asia.
Japanese well, they are a very... don't know how to describe. They are very efficient in the things and many books and dramas and stuff are translated to Japanese very quickly. Normal people don't really have to learn other language and only learn a bit in high school. They have their own Japanese community and don't really venture out to the English community because most of them don't know English very well. Actually it is almost the same as the people from China or Taiwan, most of the people don't know English very well.
Why a lot of Japanese games and manga are translated to Chinese so quickly is because of the Taiwan people. Taiwan is nearer to Japan. Taiwan people learned a lot of things from Japan and mostly reproduce their technology and even follow their kind of entertainment too. Like the ceramic knife. And can be said that a big portion of young people there learn Japanese too and really good at it. I take an example, Kichiku Megane Chinese translation(fan translated), with just half a year and about 40+ people working on it. A complete Chinese translated Kichiku Megane is out(there are other games translated games too but not really that much). And manga publisher from Japan do set up their company in Taiwan too like Kadokawa Shoten. That's why a lot of Japanese manga are published in Chinese too other than fan scanslation online.
That about sums up what I know.
As for Angel Profile, I've not played it and I don't know Japanese. But I've read the scanslated manga. The story is pretty interesting though.
Edit: I've seen a few comments about people playing the game, that is the son is tooo girly that they can't stand it. lol He does seem to look a bit girly and got hair clips and flower earrings.

Hello! How did I miss this??? XD
I'm actually Chinese! Wow, this is new. The only doujin game I've played in Chinese is Altor, forr Katekyou Hitman Reborn. I can't believe I never noticed this one too. I've played one of the Princess Maker games before, which was fun. It wasn't amazing, but I enjoyed it. I think I'll actually like this one more since I'd rather have a son than daughter XD THAT right there is BL game influence speaking. That's also why I'll never have children (they'd be traumatized >_>)
By the way, rikki and littleangel, are you guys still looking for help? XD I have a lot of free time on my hands once college applications are done. I'd love to help out. I've never done extracting for a doujin game before (I never thought I'd even play one XD), but I am helping with the translation for Shikkoku no Sharnoth ~what a beautiful tomorrow~ (I'm hoping this one doesn't get dropped too, or else I'm jumping over to Amaterasu translations >_> *annoyed*). My Chinese reading isn't the best, but I've got a whole family of native Chinese speakers (and one English native speak who knows Chinese ten times better than I do, my cousin) so I could probably help.

I cannot reply you on LJ msgs so I reply here.
Hiii, Yay! I have helpers! I'm almost finish with Braveness's script translation but it's far from finish because there are lots of pictures that need to be edited too and need to do script checking for grammar or spelling errors. But I'll need help with the pre-sequel and other related mini-games. And also the 3rd one when it comes out...
You play the game first(if you haven't). It is quite fun and it plays a bit more like AVG games because it has an elaborate story which is different from Princess Maker 2 which only have a very vague story(not much of a story). It will really spoil big time if you decide to translate it before playing.
Actually, currently there are quite a few Chinese doujin games. I would really recommend Sleeping Lily Mermaid Princess(but you have to buy the full version one) but it is done really nice, I played the tryout and it really is top quality.
Alfagame's games are really fun too, you can get all of them in the alfa forum.

XD I haven't finished it yet. I actually just started. However, it does seem more interesting. The back story, about the competitions between the celestials, demons, and humans was nice. At least I KNOW what's going on. It wasn't that nice in Princess Maker >_>
I can help with editing pictures. I'll probably be better at that since I help scanlate mangas often. Plus, I'd like to help with editing grammar and spelling. I'm more confident in my English than Chinese XD I'll try to finish the game, at least a couple of endings, as soon as I can.

I have found someone who wants to help with editing pictures. I have yet to see the pictures myself. After I see how much it is, if it is a lot then I'll divide them up. Yes, I need people to help quality check the translation. I know there are times where I almost doze off while translating it lol and then later after I close my eyes for a bit and felt refreshed I find that the things I translate before have no reason at all and have to retranslate those.
The story is quite deep and kind of dark, you'll be a bit surprised how the story goes if you managed to follow the main storyline.
I think the game is quite hard. But I haven't have much luck with Princess Maker too so I may not be good at playing these kind of simulation games. So it may not be that hard to other people.

XD I'm actually not too bad at these games, so I might do ok. Anyways, just PM me if you need help along the way, either here or on LJ. I'll help with editing and anything else.
Side note (or main note?), the story is pretty confusing right about now XD I'm, I think, just less than halfway done. I understand it, but there are still a lot of loose ends

Maybe you can understand it at the end? It kind of give you a bit and held back to give it mystery kind of feeling(lol) but the hints are really obvious to me. And yes, the story is kind of complicated. There are a few stories going on at once. Your story, your kid's story, the world story and the other charas story(which are related the the past 3 stories...).
Be sure to play the other games too. Like Origin(it really explains your story clearly).
Yes, I'll contact you when I get it.

Renascence's Opening video: I asked in the main forum and she said this song lyrics is mix French, Italian, Arabic and English. The person who made the lyrics knows all these languages. The lyrics will be released when the game is released. http://www.56.com/n_v157_/c48_/27_/21_/k....0_/49263226.swf
If you can't watch videos from 56, post here and I can give you an alternative.
Edit: Oh, my friend have set up the translation blog. There is nothing much but feel free to drop by sometimes. http://princemakerproject.wordpress.com/
