does level up mean anything other than adding a number after "lv." ? does it increase stats or are stats solely depended on the BP?

Here, these are the stats of all my units at the end of my most recent game:
Hakuoro---------------------------------------Aruruu Level: 39 HP: 516---------------------------Level: 31-HP:469 Combo: Max Attack: 99--------------------Combo: Max-Attack: 75 Def: 99 MaDef: 40---------------------------Def: 54 MaDef: 31
Eruruu-----------------------------------------Teoro Level: 48 - HP: 520-------------------------Level: 10-HP: 173 Combo: Max - Attack: 53------------------Combo: 1-Attack: 35 Def: 34 MaDef: 25--------------------------Def: 27- MaDef: 8
Oboro-----------------------------------------Dorii Level: 35 - HP: 468-------------------------Level: 17 - HP:281 Combo: Max - Attack: 75------------------Combo: Max - Attack: 36 Def: 34 - MaDef: 31------------------------Def: 16 - MaDef: 18
Guura-----------------------------------------Benawi Level: 17 - HP: 252------------------------Level: 40 - HP: 616 Combo: Max - Attack: 32-----------------Combo: Max - Attack: 74 Def: 17 - MaDef: 18-----------------------Def: 42 - MaDef: 32
Kurou----------------------------------------Karura Level: 44 - HP: 662-----------------------Level: 50 - HP: 756 Combo: Max - Attack: 86----------------Combo: Max - Attack: 93 Def: 47 - MaDef: 30----------------------Def: 32 - MaDef: 07
Urutorii--------------------------------------Kamyu Level: 26 - HP: 354-----------------------Level: 56 - HP: 684 Combo: Max - Attack: 42----------------Combo: Max - Attack: 71 Def: 12 - MaDef: 47-----------------------Def: 7 - MaDef: 37
Touka---------------------------------------Derihouai Level: 53 - HP: 741-----------------------Level: 17 - HP: 294 Combo: Max - Attack: 99----------------Combo: Max - Attack: 43 Def: 50 - MaDef: 50-----------------------Def: 30 - MaDef: 23
Genjinmaru Level: 36 - HP: 800 Combo: Max - Attack: 92 Def: 60 - MaDef: 46
The reason their levels are so high is that you-know-who-at-the-end had Level 78. I leveled up every two attack with anyone. My most useful units were Hakuoro, Genjimaru, Eruruu, Kamyu, Touka and Karura.
My Favorite unit at the end was Kamyu. She did +1200 of damage to you-know-who though, Touka was the one who killed him with a +1500 Combo.
As you could see I barely used Dorii and Guura... It could not be helped 'cause I decided to make Kamyu and Urutorii rule and, at least Kamyu, ruled!
About the question of the Leve Up. Level Up increases HP, Damage and Defense.
I don't mean the stats. The Higher your Level the less damage you will receive and the higher damage will do when you attack. The stats are surely a base that the game uses to calculate the attack and def.
Proof of this is Eruruu... Against the Aba-Kamuu she had a a Def of 30. Aba-Kamuu have an attack of 70 or so. Normaly they would dealt like 200 per hit but, they only did 120 with the first hit and 50 with the second. That is because the Level, at that time, was 40 while the Aba-Kamuu's were 22 or so.

wow, this is very enlightening. Did you lose on purpose just to get higher level? What's the highest level that can be achieved? Are the dark spell and light spell (the one that shoots like a rook) the final spells of kamyu and uruto?

I won't say I didn't but, most of times they killed me. On my new playthrough I have decided to reach the highest level in the game. As well as max EVERYONE stats or, at least, try XD 'cause, it's clear I can't do that with Teoro and Derihouhai.
About the Dark and Light beams... Yes, thosse their final spells though, they are meant to hit multiple enemies with one big attack it isn't the strongest... Kamuy Rock attacks can do massive damage to the Aba-Kamuu... For me, the damage was over 200. With the beam I could hit all of them but, with a damage of +100.

And using magic against enemies of the element weak against them also does better damage. Most people totally forget about using the Elements of the characters to boost their hits a little.
Fire strong against Water, weak against Earth Water strong against Air, weak against Fire Air strong against Earth, weak against Water Earth strong against Fire, weak against Air

That is good advise, Alita. When playing the hardest dificulty you have to pay attetion to that! Such a thing can, either, make the battle advantegous for you or to your enemy.

I have all that AGTH information right on the very front page of this in my review. Please read it. (Additionally, it is /also/ posted on my AGTH thread in my Game Tips and Help forum)

I was looking at the home page of the PS2 version of UtaMono and look what I found
http://www.aquaplus.co.jp/uta/characters.html#
The PS2 version will have a new female character. Her map animation and art suggest she may be a noblewoman... Maybe an Emperor from one of the countries though, when looking at her ears... She may be from Tousukuru...
Can someone translate the text?

wow, a new character! Does that mean they made a sequel of utawarerumono? I always thought the ps2 version is nothing but a remake of the old, adding news features to battle system, but a new character out of the blue! On the side note, where are kuuya and sakura in that list?

Dunno if Sakuya a Kuuya were there but, the PS2 version is the same as the PC version... I'm kinda surprised they added a new character as well. I wonder how much the original story will change...

sup, i've been trying to play utawarerumono on the most difficult mode, everything's good so far, my characters are strong and all, no problem in defeating any enemy, BUT! i'm in the scenario where hakuoru and his harem jumps in to save karura's brother, deh-sth, i forgot how to spell his name. Anyway, this guy always dies before i can reach him! no matter how i do it, have his army attack, cram his army in front of him and minimize surface area (getting attacked less per turn), but no matter what i do his defense, even with the four cannon fodders, are not enough to stop the enemy in time. Is there any strategy for this scenario for hard mode?

I would suggest you to use Touka and Aruruu...
Now, when Deri and Co move... Move them to the back... Have Deri's soldier protect him. Don't scatter them, just have them protect and attack a single enemy. Lure all the other enemies using Hakuoro! They will, most of times, target him so, make sure he is always in the front.
If you die, keep doing that until you win! The first time on hardest mode it took me arround 20 replays. On this second time it took me only 5.

When I did that battle (though on standard mode) my hard part was getting them /down/ there in time. They always got stuck up on those narrow cliffs. I found when I brought Kamyu and Urutorii it was helpful, cause their magic could hit the guys blocking the way up on the cliffs from a small distance while strong hitters like Karura or Touka could hit up close. They could also sneak by sometimes since they can fly. It's getting stuck on those cliffs and not getting them down to help in enough turns that was always my problem.
